The Classroom Champion

Encouragement through Motivation

BTD Foundation Classroom Champions focuses on leadership development through education: the approach is to identify academically talented scholars, who do not have the necessary financial resources, and offer them support in the areas of education, leadership and life-skills development.

BTDF will identify these leaners at schools that the The Amara Project and Development through Sport program which currently forms part of our social development projects runs and have a relationship at.

This is a long-term scholarship program, offering scholars support in the areas of mentorship and personal, academic and leadership development.

By focusing on the individual needs of each scholar, we ensure we maintain a personal connection to their requirements, that way providing comprehensive support for the duration of their academic career.

As to date we have identified sevens students for 2021 that are performing exceptional, regardless of their personal and financial situation. Maintaining a 75% regardless if their parents are actively involved in their lives, a 85% average sleeping in shack with no bed, yet makes no excuse or listening to music when hunger just to get over the fact that there’s no meal yet comes home with a 80% average rapport card.

We identify candidates on the following criteria:

  • Learners in Grade 8 to Grade 12
  • Academic performance >75%
  • In need of financial support to access quality educational opportunities
  • Speaks and understands basic English
  • Participates in extra-curricular activities (BTD activities)
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities

Not only are we assisting with the learners school fees, but we provide meals, toiletries bags, stationery packs, school uniform and monthly data packages. We are now giving you the opportunity to walk a path with a learner. You can now take hands with our community and contribute monthly and invest in someone’s education.
