Development through sports

Leadership & discipline is key

Sport changes lives and part of our organisational mission is to promote and active healthy lifestyle. Our passion has always been sport and majority of members and volunteers that form part of the Be The Difference Foundation has a great love for sport.

The aim of the program is to create a platform for our community youth to show off their talent and create opportunities for them to not only become better players but greater leaders. Keeping our community youth off the streets and away from gangsterisms. The program went from only being active in school holidays to running weekly gym programs and hosting annual sports events.

2014 we had our first rugby clinic at the Kraaifontein sports ground attend by only 71 primary school boys from Petunia primary and Scottsville primary. Driven and determine we had our first u13 sports day for the local community boys two weeks after that, and it was attended by 120 boys from eight different school

BTD now yearly the host two Sports days, the biggest being on the 16thJune. Every year the Foundations program generations up to 10 school bursaries for community youth at top 20 schools. One of the many success stories is Keno Alexander from Elsiesriver who received a school bursary from Welkom Gimnasium HS and was recently selected for the South African u18 Sevens national team that travelled to Namibia and won Gold. Our 2017 BTD player of the year, Keano Windvogel, went on to represent the province at the u18 Craven Week in 2019 and was awarded a full bursary at the University of Potchefstroom in 2020! A true example of student athlete identity
